The American magazine and news site TIME has just published its list of the 50 best places in the world to visit in 2022.
According to TIME, the list was compiled by its international network of correspondents and contributors and says in a statement, “with an eye to those who offer new and exciting experiences.”
TIME says the 50 places that made the list are “thriving, growing and evolving” and are “charting the path to economic recovery” and “investing in sustainability”. The list includes both well-known sites and less-visited places, reports CNN.

Finally, Bhutan’s Trans-Bhutan Trail and Uzbekistan’s historic Silk Roads are among the least traveled destinations this year.
Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and Fremantle, the port city on Australia’s west coast, are also mentioned, as is Queenstown, the adventure sports capital of New Zealand’s South Island.

Due to the hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in December, Qatar and its capital city Doha are in the center of attention this year.

North America

In the United States, TIME recommends the hip west coast hubs of Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, Florida’s cool coast of Miami and the “Comeback City” of Detroit, Michigan. Winter ski destination Park City, Utah also gets a nod.
In Canada, the capital of Ontario, Toronto, and the small surf town of Tofino, British Columbia, are the choices, and further north still, Illuissat, on the mainland of Greenland, opens onto the bay of Disko, the “Grand Canyon of the Arctic Circle”.
The ever-popular beach destinations of Jamaica and Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit are also on the 2022 list.
South America

The city of Salta in Argentina’s mountainous northwest and the village of El Chaltén in the country’s Los Glaciares National Park caught TIME’s attention this year.
Rapa Nui in Chile – better known as Easter Island – and the Galápagos Islands in Ecuador are two volcanic wonders that make the list.
The bustling metropolises of Bogotá, Colombia, and São Paulo, Brazil, are two other TIME urban recommendations.
Europe
The Czech mountain resort of Dolni Morava is on the list.
In Britain, the bucolic charms of the English county of Devon and the town of Portree on the Scottish Isle of Skye are on the rise this year.
The Western European cities of Marseille (France), Copenhagen (Denmark), Skellefteå (Sweden) and València (Spain) all get a nod.
Then there is the Italian region of Calabria, the ancient Greek city of Thessaloniki, the Portuguese region of Alentejo and the archipelago of Madeira.
The small Czech ski resort of Dolni Morava and the Lithuanian walled city of Kaunas make the list, as does the historic splendor of the Turkish capital Istanbul.
