William Gardner Beach, known as “Toby” to friends and family, of Silver Spring, Maryland, died August 3, 2022.
Toby was born in Evanston, Illinois on February 25, 1953 to Gardner and Julie Margretta Beach. Toby was predeceased by both his parents and his brother, John W. Beach. Toby graduated from Illinois State University and earned a BS in Business Administration in 1975.
Toby was incredibly active and social. After graduating from university, Toby traveled all over Europe. Upon returning to the United States, he moved to Virginia and began a career as a financial planner. He continued his education with advanced certifications in retirement and estate planning. Toby eventually moved to Maryland where he lived for over thirty years.
Toby was a man of many interests including football, skiing, travelling, fishing, sailing, dancing, wine tasting and scuba diving. One of his favorite pastimes was playing backgammon and enjoying a good meal with friends. He was exceptionally outgoing and enjoyed talking to people. Toby’s wonderful sense of humor and love of laughter was infectious. His relationships were the mainstay of his life.
Toby’s proudest accomplishments include his leadership role as Chairman of the Board of the Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce from 1993 to 1994. Toby received a Citizenship Award for his service. Toby was also the executive producer and host of the show “In Montgomery County” which aired on Montgomery Community Media. He has produced and hosted more than a hundred shows.
Toby is survived by the many friends and acquaintances he made throughout his life.
